What is Echolink?

Echolink is a new, highly successful, Internet communication program that has incredible audio quality even from 28,800 baud dial-up Internet connections. It is available ONLY to hams and you must have an active ham ticket to get access. You only need to register and wait until they verify you have a license and you can download the free computer program. The software logs you on to Echolink through the sound board on your computer and you can connect to thousands of repeaters (like ours listed above) in the world.

During natural disasters and storms, these links have been very popular by Hams trying to get first hand information from the local Hams here on the Outer Banks.

You only need an Internet connection and a sound card in your computer - radios are optional. This is a new idea and one that is growing because of its ease of use and quality of sound.
