145.110 Repeater -- W4PCN
Kill Devil Hills, NC @ 7 mile post

To the left is the old GE Master repeater as of 2002. Four tube transmitter on top, the output tube cooling fan below it, the solid state receiver below that and the controller below sitting on the two metered monitor panel. The duplexers are in the bottom of the cabinet. The Bird meter shows an output of 3-5 watts - the old radio is on it's last leg. 5-2003

To the left is the temporary NEW replacement repeater (black box). We will be installing our new Vertex 7000 with CAT 300DX controller soon, but W2IP was so gracious to donate this Motorola 10 watt repeater to OBRA Oct 2003. We will soon be removing the old GE Master repeater that has served us well.

Here is the CAT 300 DX controller on top and the Vertex 7000 under it. This is now or main repeater for the 145.110 machine and we still have the Motorola 10 watt as a back-up below it. Along with the newer set of cans we now have a very nice wide area repeater.

May 2004,

The old duplexers come out. Have you ever seen such a mess? These will go to the 146.940 machine near Bodie Lighthouse after retuning and repairs by K4HAT. The new Vertex 7000 is now in place and operating as the 145.110 repeater.

Here you see the new(er) set of duplexers in place. Right above them is our backup Motorola repeater that W2IP rigged for us.

The new Vertex 7000 is not visable in the picture but is above the Motorola.

KB4TOH at the Columbia TV station was kind enough to retune the cans prior to installation. Wait until he sees his next project - those old cans! Thanks again Mike.
